How do I increase the amount of memory available to QuarkXPress under MultiFinder?

You can increase the program's Application Memory Size. To increase the application memory size:

1. Make sure QuarkXPress is not running.

2. Open the QuarkXPress folder and locate the QuarkXPress program icon.

3. Click once on the QuarkXPress icon to select it.

4. Press Command-I or choose Get Info from the File menu.

5. The Info dialog box is displayed. The Suggested Memory Size (K) field indicates the default memory allotment for QuarkXPress. The default value is 1500. Make sure the Locked box in the upper right corner is unchecked.

6. The Application Memory Size (K) field indicates the amount of memory currently allocated to QuarkXPress under MultiFinder. By increasing this value, you increase the amount of memory available for QuarkXPress to perform its functions. The value you enter is limited by the amount of RAM installed in your Macintosh. (Every 1024K equals 1MB.) A value of 2000K or 2500K should be sufficient for most QuarkXPress functions.

After entering the value you want in the field, close the Get Info dialog box by clicking on the close box in the upper left corner. The revised memory allotment will be available the next time you launch QuarkXPress.
